From the Senior Pastor – Rev Jim Toole
The Essence of Easter
Eggs will be painted, hidden and looked for by children. Candy in the shapes of rabbits and eggs will be bought and eaten. Baskets filled with all kinds of goodies will be created and shared. Amongst the sweets and ceremonies, Christians will celebrate Easter and their faith in recognizing their salvation through the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.
The basis of Christian faith is founded on Jesus Christ bringing redemption and salvation by dying on a cross for the sins of mankind. His resurrection established eternal life, and for God’s children, the opportunity to return home to heaven. To do so, to believe, therefore be saved or redeemed, live a good life, and follow the doctrine of Christianity.
In the cycles of life, there are continuous endings in beginnings, death and rebirth. Each circumstance, situation, and even each moment, are a possibility for renewal. We are able to decide to recognize our mistakes (sins), and choose to make them right (learn the life lesson), and make amends. By following our inner knowing, inspiration and intuition, we live by our faith in what we know is real and true.
As a reflection of God as Spirit, we are the expression of Life in our lives. By choosing to be this unlimited, infinite and eternal energy and essence, we are the light and love that transcends the limitations of this world and transforms it into heaven on earth. We are saved and redeemed from our bondage of self by recognizing we are the expression of God, Spirit, of Source.
As we celebrate Easter, let us remember that we are souls that are eternal. Within this lifetime we can choose to continue to rise above or resurrect ourselves from our difficulties and challenges by choosing to follow our true nature, our Spirit, in all that we are and do. To Be Love and to shine the brilliance and beauty of our Light into the world. Whatever our beliefs are, let us share the sacred and divine Essence of Easter that we are with each other in harmony and joy. Have a blessed Easter.
Oh, and make sure you enjoy some of that candy and some of those eggs.

Sincere Gratitude for Heart Centered Kindness & Acts of Service
Mega Gratitude goes to the team of helpers who transform our seasonal tree on multiple occasions throughout the year. Jeff, Cyril, Catherine, Jake, Phyllis, Lyn, Cindy, Cassie and Kathy recently turned the tree into an Easter Delight!
All of us send Richard Schoeller heartfelt gratitude for sharing his love, talent and deep connection to spirit with each and every one of us. We are already eagerly awaiting his return in 2018.
Thank You goes to Rev. Marie Rowe for all of her volunteer help she gives to both Tina and Rev. Jim in the office. You will also find her teaching Basic Mediumship on Monday evenings and greeting you in the lobby of the Sanctuary with a big smile before services.
All of us owe Caroline Demoise a huge debt of Gratitude! Caroline spends countless hours keeping our calendars of education and events up to date, as well as serving as secretary on the Board and chairing the Education Team. You can also find her teaching Tai Chi on Monday evenings. Thank You Caroline!
Have you walked into the Healing Garden lately? You owe it to yourself to go and sit in the wonderful energy of color that our very own Keith Pake has provided for us. You will find Keith planting, watering, mulching and caring for our Garden every day of the week. We fondly refer to Keith as our Garden Angel. Thank You Keith for your tender love and care!
Let us catch you doing something inspiring in next month’s column.
It takes a Village to keep our Center of Light glowing brightly!

Thoughts are Things by Ella Wheeler Wilcox
This was one of Rev. Dorothy’s favorite poems sent to us by Rev. Tom
You can never tell what your thoughts will do They follow the law of the universe –
in bringing you hate or love. Each thing must create its kind –
For thoughts are things, and their airy wings And they speed o’er the track to bring you back,
are swift as a carrier dove. Whatever went out from your mind.

A Note from the Board
Your Board of Directors is developing a facilities expenditure plan for all the rental properties as well as the Church properties. This plan focuses on the next 5 to 10 years with the goal of maintaining/improving all the properties. We are most appreciative of your support of the stained-glass fundraiser as we are 3/4 towards reaching our goal.
The board is in the process of negotiating the properties rental contracts with rent increases effective April 1.
We invite you to share any ideas or suggestions and welcome you to offer your time and energy in assisting with projects and serving on committees. Please contact any board member for these opportunities to be a vital part of our SCOL community.

Children’s Sunday Circle
We welcome April and Spring with Sarasota Center of Light’s annual East egg hunt for the Center’s children after the morning service on April 2nd. Before the hunt begins, the children will join the congregation for a short time during the service to enjoy a special reading of Karin Ireland’s book: “Wonderful Nature Wonderful You.”
This inspirational children’s book offers ideas on how to love yourself just the way you are, and how to accept others without judging – important qualities to instill in our children.
Love and Light, Your SCOL Teachers
In April there will be four unique programs that you will enjoy attending.
Robert Austin’s Crystal Tibetan Bowl Concert will raise your vibration Friday night, April 7th in the Sanctuary. If you have not experienced the blissful, spiritual feeling when these bowls are played, join us for this rare treat, 7-8:30 p.m. for $20.
Spend the afternoon on Saturday, April 15th with Rev. Karen Rose Slember in her workshop, “Afternoon with Spirit–On the Wings of Love.” As you open to the higher vibration of your heart chakra, you will explore your soul’s purpose on earth and receive a mini reading from Karen. 1-4 p.m. for $30 in Davis Hall.
Anne Cederberg will share mystical and scientific information on trees in her workshop, “The Magic of Trees.” Mediumship with nature is a rare treat, so come and explore techniques for communicating with tree energy, Monday, April 24th, 7:30–9:30 p.m. in Flexer Healing Chapel and the Healing Garden.
As the month comes to a close, welcome back Rev. Drew Vogt and experience “Living Outside the Box: How to Co-Create with Spirit,” Thursday, April 27th, 7:30-9:30 p.m. in Davis Hall for $30. Drew will share a four step manifestation process to experience more freedom and fulfillment in the material and spiritual world.
Hands of Light
With spring comes our annual Spring/Easter Coffee Hour. We are very excited as yesterday at Sunday School we were informed of the Egg Hunt in the Healing Garden.
The special treats for the children is a big part of the “Hour.”
This year we have an abundance of plastic eggs to stuff. If you would like to donate candy to fill the eggs, it would be appreciated (please no chocolate). Starting March 26th, there will be a donation basket at the Center. This event will be Sunday, April 2nd after the morning Service.
Also, thank you donating and joining in at the St. Patrick’s Day Coffee Hour.
The Hands of Light Team, truly enjoys your enjoyment
Each month on the second Sunday at both services and at the Wednesday Candlelight service, a special collection is made to benefit a charitable organization. The total collected in March was $234.00 for Tidewell Hospice – Music and Memory Program. Gratitude to One and All!
