Living Inside Out by Rev. Jim Toole
April is here and so is the joy, excitement and sacredness of Easter. There is, of course, the arrival of the Easter Bunny and all that entails :-). More religious and divine in nature is the Christian celebration of Easter.
Easter egg hunts are exciting for the children because they have an opportunity to explore and seek out the treasures hidden for them to find. Once they have their basket filled with colorful plastic eggs, they get to discover, one egg at a time, the surprise it offers.
In our own lives, we are in a constant state of discovery, becoming aware of what we encounter in our lives. These “hidden treasures” of learning and lessons appear to focus our attention on and initiate change. Once a circumstance shows up, we can use our insight to look “into” the meaning it holds for us.
In the same way that the children opening their eggs are excited and filled with joy, we can look at these opportunities for change with the same innocence and freedom. We can recognize that no matter what is hidden behind the “shell” of perception of life’s situations, we have drawn it to ourselves for our highest and best.
In many cultures around the world, the egg is a symbol of new life, fertility and rebirth.
In some Christian traditions, the Easter egg is symbolic of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The hard shell of the egg represents the sealed Tomb of Christ, and cracking the shell represents Jesus’ resurrection from the dead.
In the Christian view of Easter, the resurrection of Jesus offers salvation to those who believe. Metaphysically interpreted, as we allow the light of Source that we are, the Christ Light, to be reflected from our soul into our lives, we crack and peel away the shell of perception and redeem ourselves, set ourselves free from sin, the mistakes we have made, setting ourselves free, salvation, into the truth of our light and love.
Our “resurrection” occurs when we look within and recognize that we are an immortal soul experiencing the circumstances and situations of life around us. Let us celebrate, with great joy that we bring meaning to life by discovering the brilliance and beauty of Living Inside Out and sharing it with the world. Have a Blessed and Joyous Easter.

Have you ever noticed how the light pours forth through the stained glass windows or the concert piano resonates in the Sanctuary? How fortunate we are to be greeted with friendly smiles and hugs when we come to services. We are blessed with physical structures, a loving community, and a vision to share our metaphysical spirituality.
Stewardship is the act of being responsible for and taking care of our spiritual home. In the months to follow you will be hearing more about stewardship as a spiritual practice. Just as we learn to meditate, to connect with angels and guides, we also will become more aware of how our involvement as caretakers deepens our spirituality.
One example of stewardship was the recent volunteer response to the Pastor’s request for help with assembling the songbooks with new entries. One Sunday morning after service, a group of us formed a work team and “yanked” out all the old song sheets and replaced the pages with new sheets in similar formats. Thanks to all who joined this merry band of workers.
The board is also grateful to those who have responded to Postscripts. Issues or concerns raised have been addressed. Please know we are listening. Spring is upon us with new beginnings and a time for re-creation. Together we go forth in appreciation.
With joy and love,
We thank all of our healers for being channels of healing energy and being of service at the center. Anyone interested in learning about healing please contact Rev. Jim.
We are here to support you in your health and well-being. Whether you are facing a physical challenge or otherwise, we are here for you in your daily life. We are always available to send energy, healing and inspiration.
Anyone who would like to receive healing may call or email the Center office or go to the contact page of our website. Rev. Lisa Johnson oversees this process. Our healers are dedicated to be there with the healing you need. Someone is always there for you.
The first Wednesday of the month, April 3, is dedicated to Healers Healing Healers in the Sanctuary at 6:00pm.
Beatle-Palooza with Faerie Elaine Silver
Friday, April 12th at 7:00 p.m.
An exciting and fun evening of the music everyone knows and loves.
Faerie Elaine will be releasing her newest CD – FAB FOUR!
Education at the Sarasota Center of Light is a mainstay of our spiritual tradition. Each month the Education Committee meets to discuss proposals received and ideas for future workshops and classes. The Committee considers offerings that teach about healing, mediumship, and metaphysical spirituality. Over the past year, the Center has offered a range of classes and workshops to deepen the knowledge of the attendees and/or to introduce new concepts to support our spiritual principles.
At this point in the planning process, we turn to you asking for your interests regarding future workshops and classes. Attendance numbers reflect a level of your interest and we take those factors into consideration. However, we would like to hear from you about the types of classes and subjects that most interest you at this time. We submit the following questions for your consideration:
1. What subject matter interests you most?
2. Do you prefer single offerings or a series?
3. What evenings of the week are best for you?
4. Do you have a preference for daytime classes and what days?
Please send your responses to Joan Volpe through email: email@example.com or send a note to me through the office at 2710 Browning St. Thank you.

Easter Celebration Coffee Hour and Egg Hunt
Wednesday, April 17th Divine Light Service at 7:00 p.m.
Every person is a channel and an instrument of the God Power. To be converted, literally, and again, metaphysically, means to be turned or changed entirely. To be truly converted is to be born again, anew, clutching to ourselves no prejudice, no selfishness, no empty doctrine or creed. It is to give ourselves over, not in part, but completely, to at-one-ment with the Divine Spirit.
Service is a great honor and privilege. Through the at-one-ment with the Divine Power we enrich our own spiritual life. We must help to make this world a better place for all mankind to live.
AFFIRM: By my own life I will help to make this earth life a testing period for my spiritual progression.
You are Loved.
Hands of Light
Dear members & friends,
We would like to thank everyone for the donation of wrapped candy & baskets for the Easter celebration. We will have 12 children from Everyday Blessings with ages 4 to 11. We have decided to have an Easter egg hunt again this year for all the children from Everyday Blessings and our own family and friends.
Our theme for the April coffee hour will be Easter with our usual coffee hour and egg hunt for the children.
The coffee hour for May will have a “spring” theme.
We will still continue to accept donations of food for the Food Bank and Stillpoint Mission as well as clothing and household item for Stillpoint.
If anyone is interested in joining our team, we meet on the third Sunday each month at 5:30 in Davis Hall. All are Welcome!!
Your Hands of Light Team
Due to a few major life events the first of the year, I was unable to provide a message for our March Focus. So please let me start by sharing that as your new Vice-President, how honored I am to be serving our precious Center of Light in this capacity. I am really looking forward to sharing a remarkable year with all of you.
Your new board of directors has identified our Center of Light priorities for 2019. One of those priorities was to re-structure our property management group. As a result, our new trustees are following new procedures and have taken on an increase in responsibilities. These changes are meant to build stronger relationships with our residents, to ensure maintenance issues are being addressed in a more efficient manner and investing more heavily in the care of our campus grounds.
I am thrilled with what the property management team has been able to accomplish thus far. Be sure to walk the campus when you have a chance to see all the improvements with the grounds.
We are revving up our marketing efforts once again, beginning in April. Due to a shift in priorities, we have lost several key committee members. Therefore, we are seeking new members to join our team; folks who may have an interest in marketing our Center of Light. Tasks involved in the role would include using a marketing plan for things like managing our social media (LinkedIn articles, Facebook, Twitter), creating marketing materials such as posters/flyers, working with the Education Committee to gain event details and participation in networking events, just to name a few. If you or someone you know are interested in joining this fun committee, let’s talk!
Blessings dear ones.
Robin Washburn, Vice President
