Center of Light by Rev. Jim Toole

As the holiday season approaches, we will begin to see landscapes, homes, the malls, our neighborhoods, and even our Healing Garden be illuminated with light. During Hanukkah, menorahs will be lit candle by candle. A light that shines brighter than any bulb or candle is the light that emanates from the center of each of us.

Sarasota Center of Light is a spiritual center that reflects the brilliance and beauty of Spirit for those who are seeking their inner truth. It is the many facets of a gem reflecting the sun that make it shimmer so beautifully. Each of us, in our own way, bring our individual lights together as a beacon of inspiration and awakening.

It has been said “charity begins at home.” Each of us can give the gift that truly matters during these holidays by turning within and allowing ourselves to ignite the flame of our heart and soul to new levels. Start by giving the present of our presence to ourselves, opening a doorway to a different expression of our soul into our own lives and with others.

We have an opportunity, every day in our lives, to recognize that no matter our belief, religion or philosophy, the universal connection we share between each and all of us is the infinite, unlimited and eternal light of our soul, our Spirit. When we allow ourselves to open to Be the illumination of our inspiration, we are able to see each other beyond the limitations of judgment; to truly be the Spirit of the season as one light.

By each of us being a Center of Light, we are able to come together in our friendships, families, workplace and spiritual home in a way that truly reflects “where two or more are joined, therefore I AM.” We are able to be the community (common unity) we seek to experience and share.

During the holidays, let your light shine bright within to see more clearly your truth and pathway. Open to share your light with one another so that each and all can remember the joy, love, peace, brilliance and beauty that is our true nature. Let us be peace on earth and goodwill for all, as we individually and collectively choose to be a Center of Light. Happy Holidays and a Blessed Season to All!

To the ministers, for the countless hours of preparation, study and time serving the congregation, we are blessed and wish to thank you. Your dedication to the Principles of Metaphysical Spirituality are evident in the ways you serve the Center.

To the staff, where would we be without you? Behind the scenes, you work tirelessly to assure that administrative and operational tasks are completed with efficiency and high quality. We are grateful for the many ways you serve the Center.

The congregants of Sarasota Center of Light define the community as a loving group of individuals wishing to share messages of Spirit and a life of compassion and kindness. The smiles, words of encouragement, and hugs are the expression of what you feel in your hearts. In this heart space we feel the oneness promised to us by Spirit. Healing Ministry

We thank all of our healers for being channels of healing energy and being of service at the center. Our basic healing class curriculum will begin again in January. Anyone interested in learning about healing please contact Phyllis Lambert or Rev. Jim.

Healers will begin meeting in January on a monthly basis after the second morning celebration of the month in Flexer Chapel to share healing with one another (Healers Healing Healers) and have a potluck or go out to lunch after.

We are here to support you in your health and well-being. Whether you are facing a physical challenge or otherwise, we are here for you in your daily life. We are always available to send energy, healing and inspiration. We are grateful to share that we have received wonderful feedback from those who have asked for healing and the blessing it has been for them.

Anyone who would like to receive healing may call or email the Center office or go to the contact page of our website. Rev. Lisa Johnson oversees this process. Our healers are dedicated to be there with the healing you need. Someone is always there for you. Let us know how we can support you.

Hands of Light

Our Founders Day 70th Anniversary celebration was well attended with guests from the community to dedicate the new Peace Pole. We appreciate the abundance of food that was donated to the pot luck luncheon which was enjoyed by all. The ceremony of rededication was an especially moving, and spiritually grounding event, giving a sense of uniting our members and our community.

The Elegant Evening with Spirit in the Enchanted Garden was a beautiful transformation of Davis Hall and was enjoyed by all who attended. Our thanks and appreciation goes out to all who helped us with the preparation, planning, serving, and cleaning-up, and who attended making it a very special event. The HOL team couldn’t have done this without the help of the many people who gave their time and energy and we Thank You!!!!

The Board has agreed to include the Springboard division of Everyday Blessings in the December Blessing Bowl. The HOL team would like to raise money to purchase gift cards for the 6 young people currently in the program. The gift cards, fruit and maybe some candy will be placed in a Christmas stocking for each person.

Infinite Insights

Life is beautiful. It is wonderful only if you make it so. It can be exactly what you want it to be. Individuals must recognize the difference between spiritual and earthly living. There’s no harm in choosing some physical, some material, and some spiritual, in fact, my Children of Earth, this is what your life should be. It should be well balanced so that you will feel the advancement taking place in all these phases of your Earth experience. No one should ever put aside material and physical vibrations and become so deeply involved only in the spiritual and believe that that would bring a well-balanced life, believe that that will bring greater blessings and greater reward at the end of the physical life. This will not be true.

How could you know about self-mastery, self-control if you did not accept the challenge relating to the Earth mind and the physical body and the material world about you? Anyone can imagine how grown and how spiritual he can be or how well disciplined he can be but the actual fact of discipline is that which tells the story as to how little or how much you have profited in your Earth experience. Learn to find happiness and inner joy and peace in doing simple things or in doing complicated things; all depending upon your attitude, your way of life – taking into consideration your personality, your environment – you then will make the choice.

You of Earth can learn from the experiences of others only if you choose to do so. There are many people who think they must “do it my way.” “I have to learn when I’m ready to learn,” but the spiritual law of the universe grants to every individual the privilege of choosing the way one shall learn, what one shall learn, and how much one shall achieve. There should be no distortion of fact or distortion of truth in anyone’s mind.

Accept the challenge now to live life by your choice but remember that in living it, you also have access to tremendous help, strength, and power, for as you ask, you will receive. May peace be in your hearts always.

You are loved. 
