Be At Home Were Your Heart Is by Rev. Jim Toole
Valentine’s Day brings our attention to love. Home brings our attention to safety, peace and ease. They say home is where the heart is. I think it’s more than where we are or how we feel. It’s about being love, with a wide open heart, wherever we are.
I remember as a small child, looking across the classroom trying to get the attention of some cute girl. On Valentine’s Day I went and got some of those little paper cutout valentines and tried to figure out what to say on it to get her attention. It didn’t work! One of the first lessons I would learn in looking for love in the wrong way and in all the wrong places.
When it came to home, it wasn’t much better of a situation. I definitely wasn’t experiencing safety, peace and ease there. My journey would begin early, trying to find “home” in my life and a place to express the love of my heart. Somewhere inside it seemed as if they belonged together somehow. How true this would eventually come to be for me.
I had no good references for where I could find a good home for my heart. I would spend many years looking for both outside of myself and in the world. I had no clear understanding what home was and what it felt to feel true love in my heart. After many failed relationships and living in different places, I finally started looking within.
Instead of trying to find safety, peace, ease and love in the world, I realized the only way I could truly experience them was by being them. The safety of home came from finding and expressing my truth. Peace came from accepting the I Am I Am. Ease came when I started trusting Spirit, moving through me and expressing as me. I found a home for my heart when I accepted, embraced and embodied that I was the love I had been looking for.
As you make your way along your pathway of life, stop as often as you can to fall in love. The love I am speaking of is the love that you are as an expression of the love of loves. In your knowing of your connection with the heart of hearts, you will find safety, peace and ease within you and therefore, within your life. In this way you can always be at home were your heart is.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

ONGOING WEEKLY CLASSES

Each month since fall of 2017, I have shared news of the Center with you in a FOCUS message from the President. Sometimes the news was more factual; other times more heartfelt. With the ebb and flow of change, the March message will be delivered by our new president. Your loving support of the work of the board and of me, personally, has been remarkable. Please join with me in offering help and support to the new president, who will be elected at the AGM on February 29, 2020.
I rejoice with you over the many successes the Center has experienced the past two and a half years. Our experience with the visiting mediums has enhanced the depth and breadth of our spiritual knowledge. It is very rewarding to host those mediums with a long history at Sarasota Center of Light. We also appreciate getting to know international mediums who have come to the Center for the first time. In the spring of 2020, we shall celebrate the start-up of an intensive mediumship training program led by Bill Coller. In the fall of 2020, we will welcome back David Thompson, an extraordinary physical medium, who will be offering three seances.
Through the efforts of dedicated volunteers, we had a most successful Elegant Evening and we now have published Pearls of Light, a compilation of messages delivered by Rev. Dorothy while in trance. Psychic Saturdays are favorites in the community and continue to be successful fund-raisers for the Center, while sharing and educating the public about spirit messages and healing.
Financially, the Center continues to rely upon our rental houses to support Center expenses. With the approval of voting members, the decision was made in December 2019 to sell one of our properties. The success of the sale enables the Center to meet financial obligations of aging properties and to invest the majority of the proceeds in a money generating account. A focus of 2020 for all of leadership and for each member is to share the jewels of the Sarasota Center of Light with others through services and educational opportunities.
Through the efforts of Rev. Jim’s healing and mediumship classes, the Center now has an active team of healers. Student mediums successfully offered a gallery and we hope to see more of their gifts in the future. A major milestone for the Center will be reached on February 2nd, when Phyllis Lambert will be ordained Minister of the Sarasota Center of Light.. We are pleased and proud to bestow this honor to such a dedicated, hard-working and loving member of the Center.
I look forward to sharing 2020 with you. I am grateful for the opportunity to have served as your President on a board of hard working, kind, and dedicated board members.
Each month on the second Sunday at both services and at the Wednesday Candlelight service, a special collection is made to benefit a charitable organization.
The total collected in December was $165 for Resurrection House. Thank you to everyone.

Hands of Light
The Hands of Light team is welcoming the New Year, as well as the New Decade, with New Ideas for fellowship and enhancing the feeling of community within our Spiritual home. We would like to encourage members and friends to share their thoughts and ideas with the team as to new events that would be beneficial to growing our center.
There will be a poster in the Sanctuary soon about the team and the opportunities available to engage with us to co-create a new year of exciting activities.
This February 2nd is our “Souper Sunday” which coincides with the Super Bowl and traditionally involves members bringing their favorite soup in a Crockpot to be shared at the morning and evening coffee hours. This year will be extra special as the Potts Brothers are here visiting and will be at both services. Also, at the morning service, our own HOL member, Phyllis Lambert, will be ordained. Please come to support Phyllis and to share time with the Potts Brothers as well. There is a sign-up sheet in the Sanctuary, if you would like to bring soup or something else and our theme is, of course, Valentines Day!
The Hands of Light team is open to anyone and we would love to welcome new members. We meet on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 5:30 in Davis Hall before the evening service.
ALL ARE WELCOME, PLEASE JOIN US!!

In planning for 2020, the Committee is interested in offering programs that nourish our members and provide continuous spiritual growth. We also desire to offer more basic classes which will attract those new to Metaphysical Spirituality and possibly new to the Center.
In January the Center offered an exciting program given by William Meader. William is an international spokesperson on soul astrology. He brought the teachings of Alice Bailey and the Theosophical Society to us. Watch for him again sometime in the future.
Education programs throughout 2020 are taking form. Please watch for them in the Bulletin, our website and fliers. Finalized arrangements with visiting mediums in 2020 include the Potts Brothers in January and Richard Schoeller the end of February. If you are interested in receiving a reading from Richard please contact the office. 2020 promises to bring additional exciting programs to the Center.
We shall be starting an intensive mediumship program in May taught by Bill Coller. The program consists of four weekends, Friday through Sunday. If you are interested and would like more information, please contact me, firstname.lastname@example.org.
In late September we will be welcoming back David Thompson, one of the few physical mediums in the world. Physical Mediumship is a rare form of mediumship phenomena. David is offering three séances the end of September and early October. If interested, please contact Tom Newman at email@example.com. We also will be welcoming medium Nicole de Haas from Holland, who will be offering a limited number of readings and a trance demonstration. Information about David and Nicole is available by contacting Tom Newman.
The Education Committee wishes to thank all who provided time and effort this past season. We have openings on the Education Committee for new volunteers. Please contact Joan Volpe if you are interested, 941 223 0275.
Looking forward to the new year with you,
Joan Volpe, Chair

What really counts? It is the spirit behind anything that counts. It is the will to go forward. It is our own will that is motivated by the God Spirit. And what is this God Spirit? It is not a thing, but is everything. It is that which causes blades of grass to grow and to turn green. In us, it makes us each who we are. It is the motivating principle behind everything – an ever-expanding principle. It makes us each ruler over all, to rise to heights sublime. If we keep a positive state of mind, then what is right for us will come.
You are loved.
