A Message from the President…
Hello, I hope you enjoy this upcoming month of June! Your Board, Ministerial Team, Hands of light, and Education Team have been really busy brainstorming new ideas, and planning for reopening. The reopening date will be announced later this month.
Last month, I was proud to be part of the Hands of Light Team’s first meeting of 2021 via ZOOM on Sunday, May 23. Sherry Brune, Coordinator, and LaVerne Duff, Co-leader, did an excellent job facilitating the call. Our Team covered a church clean-up and other options for ways to have a safe and successful re-opening, a variety of marketing venues, and ideas for both member and community outreach programs. I encourage all (including those who missed the first meeting) to attend the next Hands of Light meeting Wednesday, June 16, 2021, on ZOOM immediately following the 7:00 p.m. Healing service.
I also attended our Ministerial Team’s successful call on Sunday, May 30. Our Ministerial Team is now composed of Rev. Lisa Johnson, Rev. Lyn Mulder, Rev. Phyllis Lambert, and Associate Ministers Mary Torrey and Karin Strauss. As with the Hands of Light meeting, this Team did a great job on the ZOOM call discussing constructive ideas for a safe and successful reopening. In the meantime, classes and services continue on ZOOM to serve our congregation.
Our Board of Directors is hard at work and planning for our reopening in person, as well as maintaining and repairing the campus as needed. Structural damage to our Sanctuary’s north wall was noted by our Trustee, Gary Mantz. The damage was carefully repaired by a local stucco repair company, with great results and a moderate price tag. Please see “post-construction” photo below. Thanks to the Board of Directors for supporting this successful repair to the Sanctuary, the keystone property used for our church worship.
Enjoy the month!

Peaceful Resolution Committee – Interested Volunteers Wanted…
We are looking for qualified volunteers who can assist on a Peaceful Resolution Committee that is being developed by the 2021 Board. Details follow for your consideration. This helpful process was overwhelmingly approved by our members several years ago, but has not yet been utilized by our past Boards. Sometimes issues may arise that cause different viewpoints between members of our congregation. However, if the challenges cannot be resolved, the matter can be placed before the Board’s Peaceful Resolution Committee. That Committee will consist of 3 persons who are Center ministers and/or trained in conflict resolution or mediation, but not include any Board member or Associate Minister.
If you have experience or interest in conflict resolution and/or mediation, please contact Bob Sadler, Board President, Dunedin1111@hotmail.com (phone (727) 492-2977.)
A Message from the Minister’s Corner…
Summer is in the air and we are moving towards being post-COVID-19. This is an exciting time of rebirth and anticipation of our lives becoming back to normal. The big question will be, have we learned the lessons bestowed on us by the worst plague in modern time?
This virus could have been the catalyst to show humanity that the way we were living our lives was heading in the direction of a run-away train. So many of us were on a nonstop treadmill leaving so little time for Family, connection with friends and even our connection with our Maker and Creator.
In my own Ministry I have witnessed firsthand the discarded Mothers and Fathers placed in homes and virtually abandoned. So, with our community now climbing out of COVID-19 hibernation like a bear, I pray we all look deep within ourselves to live a kinder gentler approach to life.
You may wonder what your Church Leaders have been doing. I am excited to share with you that your Board, Ministerial and Education Team have been really busy brainstorming new ideas, upgrading the campus and planning great classes in both Healing and Mediumship. Our virtual ZOOM Services have resulted in an international Membership which will continue when we open our doors.
Our ZOOM classes and on Campus psychic Saturdays, Healing are all ready to go. We will be sending out a constant contact notification with the expected dates and we are all so excited about being able to see everyone again in fellowship and worship.
Blessings, Rev. Lisa Johnson
From the Education Committee…
Lyn and I send our thanks to everyone who supported the Dowsing Practice class on May 13th. It was well received and we will look to scheduling another class in the future.
We continue to be blessed with Rev. Lisa’s teachings and hope you enjoyed the Meditation, Mindfulness and Focus class on May 27th. For June, the following classes are scheduled:
The Beliefs of Metaphysical Spirituality Part 1 – with Rev. Tom Newman – via ZOOM Monday, June 7th, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. EDT. Fee is $20.00
And the Beliefs of Metaphysical Spirituality Part 2 – with Rev. Tom Newman – via ZOOM Monday June 14th, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. EDT. Fee is $20.00 per class
These 2 classes will outline the majority of beliefs that make up Metaphysical Spirituality. This will be the first time these concepts have been taught at SCOL, and we encourage you all to tune in. Check out Tom’s flyer on the website for more information. Registration is encouraged via SCOL website at www.sarasotacenteroflight.com, or by contacting Tina via email at churchoffice@SarasotaCenterofLight.com, or call the office at (941) 953-6620.
Once your payment is received you will receive the ZOOM link to join the class, and the handout titled “The Beliefs of Metaphysical Spirituality” for reference during the class. As the office hours are between 9:00 a.m. and 12 noon EDT, please sign up no later than 10:00 a.m. EDT on the day of the class. This is to ensure that Tina receives your request, and has time to send you the ZOOM link and the handout, prior to the office closing at noon.
Save the Date: Thursday July 15th, 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary, and also available via ZOOM. We are very excited to announce that our friend Brenda Viola will be teaching a workshop, followed by a book signing of her book “The Public Servants’ Survival Guide.” More details to follow.
Until next time, stay well and stay safe.
Kath Curtin and Lyn Mulder
From the Healing Committee…
Our Healers are here to serve and be available whenever we are called upon. As you know, during the COVID-19 Pandemic, our church Sunday and Healing Services are held on ZOOM.
However, if you need our Healers to contact you for a healing or emergency, please call the Church Office at (941) 953-6620 and Tina will connect you with a Healer.
If COVID-19 has taught us anything, it is that we now have to take responsibility for our own health. No longer is it easy to go to the doctor. We have to think for ourselves what to do. We think back to some of Grandma’s ancient remedies and we are surprised that many of them work well!
As metaphysical thinkers, we understand that illness starts in the Etheric Spiritual Body and, if not addressed, moves on into the Physical. As we plan for our re-opening, we are going to address Self-Healing classes to enlighten us in this art.
Be well and care for yourself.
Rev. Lisa Johnson
From the Hands of Light (HOL) Committee…
The Hands of Light Team held its first meeting of 2021 via ZOOM on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.. This was basically a “Get Acquainted” meeting for first-time attendees and a “Welcome Back” for the rest of us.
We proposed the feasibility of holding a church clean-up day once we receive notification when the Center will reopen. We want our Center to “shine” when we swing those doors open!
The group discussed the projects and activities that the HOL team is known for such as the monthly coffee hours, fund-raising events, parties, and social gatherings, etc. Feedback from the attendees was positive with many ideas that the HOL team will seriously consider.
Other suggestions offered during the meeting included options for ways to have a safe and successful re-opening, a variety of marketing venues, and ideas for both member and community outreach programs.
I’d like to thank those who attended for their time and input and invite you to consider being a part of our HOL team. You can donate as much or as little time to HOL as you wish; every minute you can contribute is a Blessing!
Our next Hands of Light meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 16, 2021 immediately following the 7:00 p.m. Healing service. Meeting time, approximately 7:30 p.m..
For more information, please email Sherry Brune, firstname.lastname@example.org or call me at (478) 461-7581. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on ZOOM!
Sherry Brune, Coordinator
LaVerne Duff, Co-leader
A happy heart means a happy body. Inner peace lightens the vibration around you, and encourages the flow of spiritual energy to come to you.
Creating a healthy body is important. Aches and pains are common maladies, but the more you think about them, the more they hurt. Find comfort by directing your mind to positive thoughts; that will create a better vibration for healing rays to penetrate. In time, your pains will be lessened.
Visualize the healing of your weakness instead of talking about your pain. If you concentrate on your illness, you will become depressed and angry, and negative thoughts will make everything worse.
Be happy. Make yourself sing or hum. Let music permeate your environment. Your body, like a sponge, will absorb musical vibrations to make you more at peace and in harmony with the world.
Nature is the best healer, but you must work with it. Let its power flow through your mind and consciousness. Think happy thoughts, not fearful ones.
Always remember that you are “ONE with the God Power” and that your angels are present to help you in every way. You are never left alone. Create conditions that make it easier for the angels to come to you, to impress you, and to let you know how they are assisting you. You have the power to open or to close that spiritual door.
~ You are loved. ~
