A Message from the President…

Hello, looking forward to the month of May, especially the Mother’s Day celebrations. Thanks to all the mothers out there! Please see below for details on our Mothers’ Day service on Sunday, May. 9.
I was so pleased to be part of the 2021 Board inducted at service on March 28. Thanks to Rev. Tom Newman for officiating.

I am pleased to announce the Sarasota Center of Light’s Board of Directors unanimously approved Mary Torrey’s request to become a member-at-large and have her existing Associate Minister certificate transferred from Camp Chesterfield in Indiana. Mary Torrey is an International Medium who hails from Denver, Colorado and gave the spirit talk, meditation and messages from loved ones in spirit, at Sunday service on April 25, 20201. Mary was formally trained as a Medium at Arthur Findlay College in England and then furthered her training in the Netherlands. Mary will be a welcome addition to the Ministerial Team.
Even though we are still following the COVID-19 restrictions, I want to assure you that we will re-open as soon as it is really safe for our people to gather together. The Board is currently exploring this, as well as possibly offering Psychic Saturday on ZOOM.

This last month has flown by and your Board has been hard at work with managing our church and its properties. One successful project fixing the damaged roof on the Chapel, and replacing the damaged stucco on the Sanctuary wall.
In May 2021, I am looking forward to several events that are described in more detail later. On May 2, Gerald and Eric will be joining us from their home in England to participate in Sunday Service. We are pleased to announce a Dowsing Practice Class on Thursday, May 13 at Davis Hall, 7:30 to 8:30pm (Love Offering), for those who attended Rev. Tom Newman’s Dowsing class; please bring your Dowsing Rods with you. I also am looking forward to a Meditation, Mindfulness, and Focus ZOOM Class (“Turn off that Monkey Mind!” ) with Rev. Lisa Johnson, Thursday, May 27 (sign up details listed below.)

Our new Handy Man, Ken Buser, just a FANTASTIC job working on our properties and cleaning up the Garden (see photo, below). Ken also fixed the fountain which is now is operating just perfectly. So, please stop by sometime and enjoy those beautiful surroundings.

The Center’s Ministry Team will conduct the services in May offering heartfelt spiritual guidance. Enjoy the month!

Peaceful Resolution Committee – Interested Volunteers Wanted…

We are looking for qualified volunteers who can assist on a Peaceful Resolution Committee that is being developed by the 2021 Board. Details follow for your consideration. This helpful process was overwhelmingly approved by our members several years ago, but has not yet been utilized by our past Boards. Sometimes issues may arise that cause different viewpoints between members of our congregation. However, if the challenges cannot be resolved, the matter can be placed before the Board’s Peaceful Resolution Committee. That Committee will consist of 3 persons who are Center ministers and/or trained in conflict resolution or mediation, but not include any Board member or Associate Minister.

If you have experience or interest in conflict resolution and/or mediation, please contact Bob Sadler, Board President (phone 727 4922977.)

A Message from the Acting Coordinator of the Ministerial Team…

Happy Mother’s Day!

St. Paul wrote; “The dignity of woman is measured by the order of love.” It is this love that is the heart of all motherhood. A mother is an instrument of God who loves unconditionally. Mothers are earth angels and celebrating a Mother’s contribution in our life cannot be celebrated in one day but at least there is one day that is dedicated to make all mothers feel appreciated for all that they have given besides giving birth. And from the moment of birth, they become our protector and a guiding force. The unconditional love of a mother is shown by her protection, patience, and guidance. A mother’s love is the greatest kind of love and our existence is the blessing of our mothers. The water of her womb, your first home. The body she pulled apart to welcome you to the world. The spirit in you she helped grow with all she knew. The heart that she gave you when yours fell apart. You are her soft miracle, so she gave you her eyes to see the best in the worst. You carry your mother in your eyes. Make her proud of all she watches you do.

Poem by Nikita Gill ; “Your soul is a River.”
If you are blessed to still have your mother in your life, cherish her and tell her how much she means to you and thank her for all she has given you. For those of us whose mother is in spirit, honor her on Mother’s Day with a prayer of gratitude and tell her how much you love her. I wish a mother’s love for each of you.

Rev. Phyllis Lambert

From the Healing Committee…

Our Healers are here to serve and be available whenever we are called upon. As you know, during the COVID-19 Pandemic, our church Sunday and Healing Services are held on ZOOM.

However, if you need our Healers to contact you for a healing or emergency, please call the Church Office at (941) 356-6620 and Tina will connect you with a Healer.

If COVID-19 has taught us anything, it is that we now have to take responsibility for our own health. No longer is it easy to go to the doctor. We have to think for ourselves what to do. We think back to some of Grandma’s ancient remedies and we are surprised that many of them work well!

As metaphysical thinkers, we understand that illness starts in the Etheric Spiritual Body and, if not addressed, moves on into the Physical. As we plan for our re-opening, we are going to address Self-Healing classes to enlighten us in this art.

Be well and care for yourself.

From the Hands of Light (HOL) Committee…

No matter how hard the past is, you can always begin again. – Buddha
Spring is the season of New Beginnings … a starting point. The Sarasota Center of Light is embracing this opportunity to introduce our family, friends and community to our exciting New Beginning. With COVID-19 still lingering, we are taking baby steps and slowly but surely moving toward reopening.
Therefore, we will again be calling upon our Hands of Light team for support. As the Coordinator of the HOL Team, I am inviting all interested parties to attend our first meeting via ZOOM on May 23, 2021 at 7:00PM.
Because of the COVID19 shutdown and circumstances arising from its impact on the Center, we are not certain which of our previous members will be returning and those among our new followers, will be interested in serving on the committee. We will send the link to all previous members and anyone else who would like to learn more about the HOL team and what we do.
This first meeting will basically be a getting to know you and information sharing session. If you are interested in attending, please send me your email address or phone number and I will add you to the link. If you will be unable to attend the meeting but would like more information or wish to join the team, please contact me by phone or email to address any of your questions or concerns.
I am looking forward to meeting with you and I have some exciting ideas to share with you.

Infinite Insights

We all have to cope with negative conditions that sometimes occur in life. We need to learn to deal with them in faith and trust rather than in fear. We must believe that these situations will improve and that help is at hand.

Negative thoughts always make matters far worse than they really are. The more often we express negation, the worse we feel. Negative thinking makes us feel downhearted and empty which affects our strength and energy. If we do not feel like doing anything or going anywhere, we withdraw even from those closest to us. Feelings and attitudes have a very strong effect upon us, so it is wise to think good, positive thoughts.

Much of the news reported is negative. Sometimes we are drawn into that negation and lose faith in the world at large, but we must not lose faith in our angels. Whatever our problems, we should know that the angels will help keep everything under control so there will be nothing to fear or worry about. It is important to be positive and happy, and to keep a strong, firm belief in Spiritual Law. Positive thinking and visualization will lead us forward to bright and cheerful things.

The body is a sponge that absorbs the vibrations around us. We often create negative vibrations ourselves, and if we are with negative people, we are apt to respond by absorbing their negation. We can counteract these vibrations by affirming that things will be better, and by saying, “I am not going to worry. I look forward to receiving the highest and best of everything.”

Each of us has work to do. Greet the day with a smile and a happy thought and feeling. Be glad to be alive. Be grateful that there are more opportunities to express only good and positive things in life. This is our mission in life, and we should consider it a duty. Let us have faith and look for the best things in life. As we create only the best things possible, only the best will return to us.

~ You are loved. ~
