Creating a Bountiful Harvest by Rev. Jim Toole
Fall is a time of gathering the harvest. It is how we choose to intentionally create our lives and the world around us, paying close attention to what we sow, that determines what we will reap. There is so much to consider: seeds, soil, water, fertilizer and the sun.
As with all creation, it begins within. It is vital that we decide clearly what we would like to create. This is where desire, imagination, creativity are joined with our intuition and inspiration. Our mind may have an idea, but it is our heart, guided by our Spirit, that truly chooses each seed we will plant.
The soil we are to plant the seed in are the circumstances and situations within our lives. We begin to look around us for how and where we can bring what we have chosen from within into our lives. This could be a personal creation, for a relationship, for work, for our spiritual growth or for the world.
We water the seed in our soil by offering it our passion, love, caring and presence. The seed created by the Soul is nurtured by the Spirit. The fertilizer we offer is our continuous positive intention through faith. Choosing to believe beyond what is opens the door for unlimited possibilities in creation.
Each of these is important, but it is the warmth, energy, light and power of the sun that draws life into creation. Although we are each a point of creation, we are co-creators. It is in recognizing that each of us is a reflection of All That Is that brings the unlimited and infinite energy of God, Source and Spirit into all that we choose to do and be.
If we choose to plant our seed in a clay pot and place it on our window sill we will create a very personal experience in life. As we turn to our families and relationships we can begin to cultivate a garden. By bringing all of who we are individually, our dreams and intentions, into spiritual community, we can change the world.
During this time of harvest, shed the leaves of your past, turn within to discover your deepest heart and soul’s desires, choose your seeds wisely, and plant them, not only in your life, but with us at Sarasota Center of Light. Let us let go of what has been, bring our love, light, ideas and intentions together and plant seeds that will create a bountiful harvest for each of us and for the world.

I consider it an honor and a privilege to serve as the President of the Board of Sarasota Center of Light. As I reflect on the path of my life that led me to this place, I can see clearly how all my experiences, both in my personal life and my career, have helped to prepare me for the work ahead. The Daily Thought of September 20th spoke volumes:
“I give thanks for all the people and experiences in my life. Through Divine guidance I use these experiences as stepping stones for the highest and the best in my life.”
This Daily Thought applies to all of us. Each of you bring unique talents and gifts to your membership at SCOL. As a community we are prepared to offer support, compassion, and open heartedness to one another. We welcome newcomers and look forward to the many ways we can serve in the community.
The board employs a team based management approach which can be understood as the spokes of a wheel. The rim of the wheel is the membership. The hub of the wheel is the board. Each board member has a specific function and is also a liaison to a SCOL team (Education, Healing, Facilities Management, Publishing, Marketing, Music, Hands of Light, Psychic Saturday). The work of the board is to keep the wheel turning, evenly powered with smooth motions. The liaisons connect the work of the board and the teams. The communication along the spokes is multi directional. In order to keep this wheel moving and turning smoothly, we need member involvement on each spoke. As you learn more about the duties of each team, please consider how you would like to bring your unique talents and gifts to the operation of this wonderful Center.
With blessings of abundance and peace,
President, Board of Directors

The first Wednesday, October4th , is dedicated to Healers Healing Healers in the Sanctuary at 6:00pm. All Certified Healers and student healers are invited to join us for this special time set aside for us to receive the gift of healing and to replenish our bodies and souls.
We have had great success in our new approach to absent healing and meeting the needs of our community.
Anyone requiring healing can call or email the Center office or go to the web page and request that a healer contact them and attend to their situation via absent healing.
We now have groups of specially trained healers to become your advocate – a team will be appointed and immediately begin the prayers and healing modality to fit your needs.
Our healing Minister, Rev. Lisa Johnson, will be your phone or email contact and will monitor your progress. After one week she will contact you and continue the absent healing if needed. All our healers are dedicated so that no one belonging to our Center will be alone when help is needed.

Trick or Treat
DID you know: That what is celebrated today as Halloween is really All Hallows Eve, honoring those who have made the transition into the spirit world? The next day, November 1st is All Saints Day, a feast day commemorating all the saints. Jack O’Lanterns were posted to scare away those ghosties and Ghoulies and long leggety beasties who weren’t necessarily saintly! SO, All Hallows Eve is the evening before ALL Saints Day, just as Christmas Eve is the evening before Christmas Day. Through the years it has evolved into the masks, parties and antics of the “Halloween” we have today which all have nothing to do with honoring the saints or anyone else. Many communities have changed the tenor of their festivities and now refer to them as Fall Festivals or Harvest Festivals which, when you think about it, actually makes more sense…harvest time, full harvest moon, and enjoying the plenty before preparing for winter’s chill. Did anyone say “party?” Who said “party?” Did you say “party?”
We welcome Linda Viddish and Noreen Rosati as co-chairs of the Education
Committee. We have openings on the Education Committee. Anyone interested in participating please contact the office.
We have new classes scheduled for October. Doug Plaskett will be teaching a four week series on Automatic Writing. This is a wonderful way to connect with spirit and the treasure of their writings for your life. Rev. Jim will be teaching Meditation – The Inner Journey. This class is for those who want to learn to meditate or create a deeper inner connection and experience. Please check the calendar on the back page for dates and times.
If you are interested in teaching please contact the office. The process for teaching at the Sarasota Center of Light begins with submitting a proposal to the Education Team. These Class/Workshop Proposal forms are available from Tina in the office.
When you have completed you proposal, please return it to the office and it will be put in the Education Team’s box to be considered at our next meeting. Be sure to include your preference for dates and room location. We look forward to hearing your ideas for classes and workshops for the fall and 2018 to help everyone better live metaphysical principles.
Children’s Sunday Circle
Greetings to all:
We have started our Sunday school off on a good note. We have re-acquainted with each other and have enjoyed visiting our Healing Garden. October’s focus will be on the Golden Rule and how we treat others who cross our paths. We look forward to a great new school year of learning and experience!
Love and Light, Ms. Elizabeth
Question: I have an upcoming job interview and I am very nervous. I actually worked with one of the interviews at a job from which I was fired. I was young and foolish then. I am afraid of what will happen during the interview. What should I do to prepare?
Answer: There is a metaphysical law of non-resistance at work here. Assuming that your talents and capabilities are a perfect fit for this job, this is the Angel’s advice:
Metaphysically speaking, what is yours by Divine Right cannot be kept from you. Visualize the interviewer and mentally send a blessing to him/her. Wrap yourself in an aura of love and confidence and ask your angels to go with you. Take a deep breath and go out the door to your interview.
The Angel Hotline anxiously awaits the outcome.
The Angel Hotline welcomes your questions on metaphysical themes. If your question is selected, the Angel Hotline will answer you in the next edition of the Focus.
Publication of every question is not guaranteed.

We Need You
As our Center continues to grow, our teams are looking for those who would share their energy, time and love. Hands of Light, Education, Publishing and Marketing are asking for those interested in being involved to sign up in the Sanctuary or contact the office. We are also in need of those who would like to be Greeters and Ushers during services. We invite you to be a part of the change Sarasota Center of Light is in our community and the world!
Each month on the second Sunday at both services and at the Wednesday Candlelight service, a special collection is made to benefit a charitable organization. The total collected in September was $192 the Red Cross/Hurricane Relief.
Gratitude to One and All!
