OCTOBER 2026  FOCUS

Welcome to our October 2026 newsletter. As the autumn sun shines, we gather to reflect on our journey of spiritual growth, inclusivity, and the vibrant community that defines Sarasota Center of Light.

A Message from the President

Integrity

Integrity is a mindset that encompasses many facets of a person and can have different meanings for different individuals.  For most people it reflects honesty, trustworthiness, consistency and moral courage.  The definition is “consistently choosing to be honest and following a strong moral code, even when no one is watching”. The interpretation may be different depending on the circumstances involved or the current situation.

Whatever the situation is, it usually calls for reflection of our own definition of integrity as we encounter circumstances that may challenge our moral compass.  Sometimes during a time or an event that becomes unpleasant, we are challenged to choose between our integrity and our own comfortability while navigating with others. Using kindness, respect and forgiveness, most issues can be resolved if everyone agrees to take responsibility for any missteps and make corrections accordingly.

If everyone follows their own moral compass which will point to the highest and best for the soul, then everything else will fall into place for all involved.  “There by the grace of God go I”  Timeless expression…..

Love & Peace,

LaVerne

MINISTER'S CORNER

Trick or Treat!

Did you know that the phrase “trick or treat” originated from children going house to house on the eve of All Souls' Day on November 2nd? People would give children a sweet treat if they said a prayer for souls who have passed over and may be wandering. If the children did not receive a treat, they might play a trick by messing up the yard or throwing stones at the person’s house.

From a metaphysical perspective, October is a time when the veil between our world and the spiritual world is thin, which heightens our intuition and dreams. It is a time to connect with your ancestors with the help of your guides and angels. This is also a perfect time for manifestation and alignment with your soul’s purpose. Think of it as the harvest of your soul, reaping what you have sown since the beginning of the year. What lessons have you learned? Give yourself this time to reflect and release those lessons with gratitude and love.

In numerology, October is #10; 1 + 0 = 1, which represents completion and new beginnings. It is time to plant new seeds for the year ahead. What is your ritual for planting new seeds?

So, treat yourself by visualizing the changes you desire. Don't trick yourself by ignoring your intentions for joy, happiness, and abundance in all things.

I wish you a Happy Halloween filled with all the treats you want.

Happy planting,

Rev. Phyllis Lambert

SPIRITUAL HEALING

Spiritual healing is a gentle practice that can bring a sense of peace, comfort and balance during times when life feels demanding or unsettled. It offers an opportunity to become still, quiet the mind, and reconnect with yourself on a deeper level. Many people find the experience calming and supportive, helping them feel more relaxed, centered, and emotionally refreshed. Spiritual healing isn't a replacement for medical care, but it can sit alongside it as a source of personal and spiritual support, creating a space where you can simply receive, reflect and allow yourself a little time to restore.

Sometimes it helps simply to have someone to talk to. Our Ministers at Sarasota Center of Light are here to offer a warm, confidential and supportive space for those seeking pastoral care, counselling, coaching or spiritual insight. Whether you're facing a personal challenge, looking for clarity and direction, experiencing change or loss, or simply feel the need for a thoughtful conversation, you're welcome to reach out. These sessions are offered with compassion, respect and an understanding of the many different needs people face in life today. Sarasota Center of Light is here to serve our community, so please feel comfortable contacting us to arrange a conversation with one of our Ministers.

HANDS OF LIGHT

Golden light rays streaming through a deep green forest canopy

There is a sense of Fall in the air as the temperatures and humidity drop slightly.  That makes us aware that the Autumn holidays are approaching. With that in mind, our 4th Quarter Potluck is just around the corner, on Sunday, October 4th, 2026.

Your Hands of Light team will bedeck Davis Hall with hauntingly, creepy Halloween décor, as well as ghoulishly delicious refreshments. You are invited to share your favorite Halloween dish to the menu. Someone will be in Davis Hall during Psychic Saturday and Sunday morning after 10:15 am to receive your donations. Please make sure your name is on any dishes you bring, so we can return them to you.

Do you enjoy party planning, decorating, or devising great ideas for fun activities? We’d love to have your input when we start planning our Roaring 20’s Party for the Spring of 2027.  Please join us for our next  HOL meeting, to be held on October 18th, 2026, in the Sanctuary, following the Sunday service. In the meantime, enjoy the cooler weather!

For more information, please contact:
